IMPROSA WORKS TO REDUCE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT

The ecological footprint of the Costa Rican currently does not cover what each inhabitant occupies to obtain the volume of clean air, the amount of drinking water, the amount of sea surface to provide aquatic food and the amount of land to: provide food, protect ecosystems and biodiversity, to provide the energy that is consumed and the infrastructure (housing, health, education, transportation, services).

The State of the Nation 2019, in its “Harmony with nature” section, indicates: “Costa Rica maintains an unsustainable use of strategic natural resources for development. This is reflected in a stagnation in the patterns presented for several years, which prevents facing a diversity of profound changes in the environment, both natural and economic, social and political."

In search of contributing to the change that is required in terms of environmental sustainability, since 2014, theImprosa Financial Group  took on the challenge of measuring, mitigate, compensate and adaptits impacts on the environment and in 2019 decided to expand the tasks, by developing a strategy ofEco Business Efficiencywhich allows us to rigorously analyze the ecological footprint of the portfolio of properties in which the real estate investment funds managed by Improsa SAFI invest. The analysis focuses on the following topics:

  1. Fossil fuels

  2. Electric power

  3. Hidric resource

  4. Comprehensive management of solid waste

  5. Compensation and adaptation strategies.

In the first instance, at the Improsa Financial Group we are dedicated to measuring the performance of a group of properties in this matter, through a technological platform in which the behaviors of the key items mentioned above are recorded, and the impacts that they have are analyzed. occur, in order to be able to make timely decisions in relation to the challenges that arise in each of the selected real estate properties.

As a result of this management, it has been possible to make successful investments in efficient infrastructure, allowing savings in electricity, water, and the reduction of Greenhouse Gases (GHG).

As a result of the tasks carried out, the Improsa Financial Group was able to obtain a Blue Flag in three of its main offices or branches, as well as in nine properties in which our real estate investment funds managed by Improsa SAFI have investments. These properties are detailed below:
